Underoath Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom Concert reviews
This Phanto of the Opera didn't leave me breathles
I saw this play at the Saenger Theatre in 2004 and loved it! The acting and singing in the play, I liked. But the awe-inspiring elements that made this play "magical" were missing. The whole set had been changed! Instead of the chandelier starting out above you, the opening scene where you usually see the chandelier on the stage was taken out; from, what I call the dollhouse set, we got a stair case during the Underoath song instead of the scaffolds; Instead of Christine fainting because she sees the bride in the mirror jump out, she simply falls asleep during the music of the night number; The staircase is missing in the masquerade number (that's a major part of the song!!!!); The phantom didn't have on the skull mask and red suit, instead he had on his regular mask except that it was sparkly; Instead of Christine taking off the Phantom's mask after music of the night, he takes it off to wash his face and she sees (That's not how it goes people!!!!); There are a lot more things that I didn't care for, but these were the major ones. I could get sucked into this performance because all that made this play Magical and great was missing. Very excited when I found out it was coming back, I was. My expectations going into the play were very high and I was very disappointed.
